31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN 2014
Come join me for String Me Along featuring a cast of ghoulish ghosts, zombies, skeletons, and witches all getting ready for Halloween. After I assemble all 31 banners, I will be stringing them together and hanging them with orange mini-lights for the perfect Halloween touch. Details: three coordinating color fabrics along with white and orange purchased at Jo-Ann Fabrics; Distress Paints; Distress Markers: Stayz-on Permanent Inks, and an assortment of stamps. Individual products used will be listed under each day's description as to colors and stamps used. I hope you enjoy my fiendishly delightful cast of characters and things that go bump in the night.

The final page utilizes the Picture Wheel Die from the Tim Holtz Alterations line.  How cute are the little skellies in the windows???  I used my Catrina Rumikub tile for a finishing touch on this page.  I also added a Tempus Fugit stamp on another page for my book - stamp is from Alpha Stamps.

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #29

I'm calling this page "looking at the world through rose-colored glasses."  The featured stamp is another one of my favorite, but little-used stamps, from Stampers Anonymous (I think the designer is Michael de Meng - looks a little de Mengish to me.  The stamp was stamped with Midnight Blue StayzOn ink; the white is my wonderful Gelly Roll pen; and the rose-colored lenses were colored in with a Sugar Pink Distress marker from Ranger, Inc.  Decals (the lettering and the eye chart) are from the Tim Holtz Ideaology product line.

No El Dia de Los Muertos book would be complete without some "Skeleton Leaves."  The fun little group of skulls were created using a stamp from Deadbeat Designs - how appropriate!

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #24

Phew!  I would never have completed my book if I wasn't creating a page a day for this blog hop.  Here's a very festive Catrina with fiesta flags using digital elements from Studio Girls Scrapbookgraphics and my cute little doggie calavera stamp from Rubber Soul.  I had no idea when I started this project that I had accumulated so many El Dia de Los Muertos stamps - so glad they're being put to good use.  I can't wait to put my whole book together in a few days.  I have some very cool charms and ribbons to add to the binding.  And I'd like to thank everyone who's commented so far for their very encouraging comments!

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #20

Today's page features a skull stamp from a company that I believe was called Not Just Another Cute Stamp Company.  The letters spelling out "Calavera" are from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz collection that I purchased when I still lived in Santa Fe.  It's the first time I've used the Gothic style letters even though I love them!

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #19

The dancing couple is a stamp from Our Lady of Rubber which I purchased from my good friend Lee (when we lived in Santa Fe, NM) who owns Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps.  Lee and I used to play in the store after hours, and it's Lee who got me into stamping in the first place.  This piece was designed to be a pocket page in my El Dia de Los Muertos book - border was cut from a Martha Stewart border die that I purchased from Michael's.  Paper pocket background is from a digital image at Studio Girls Scrapbookgraphics from Tangie Baxter's El Dia Collab digital kit.

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #18

I stamped one of my very favorite images using Ranger, Inc.'s Archival Ink, on a domino to make a dangle for my book.  I will probably add a bit of color using Ranger Inc.'s, Tim Holtz Distress Paint but want to wait to see my finished book in order to compliment the finished book.  You will see him again at a later date as part of the many images I will have hanging from the bound side of the book - Day #31 will show the completed project.  For now, I will put him aside to dry!

Hung Out to Dry
The backdrop is a post card from a neighboring town that we are going to visit today - every store is.decorated for Halloween with treats at every shop!

I wanted to capitalize on the funky side of El Dia de Los Muertos so I turned the sugar skull from Olor into a flower whose center is a fun stamp from A Stamp In The Hand  Here's my flower child:

No altered book would be complete without "accessories" that protrude from the book - here's a bookmark featuring a stamp from Deadbeat Designs.  The stamp I used is one of my all-time favorites.

Viva El Dia!

Unfortunately, I don't know where the smaller sugar skull stamp came from - but I love him (her) also!

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG HOP - DAY #1

I'm going to post a page a day for the Smeared and Smudged blog hop beginning today.  (See blog roll on left.)  My project is to create an El Dia de Los Muertos book, and I'll be posting a page a day culminating in a completed book on November 2 to celebrate El Dia.  My first post is my book cover which features a niche, a milagro, beads and rusty wings.  The stamp is actually the red shrine that outlines my niche.  See what you think and comment if you please:
